Penn State's Nittany Lion is named for Mount Nittany,  the legendary Mountain that stands alone and serves as a beloved landmark, visible throughout most of Penn State's University Park. Penn State Worthington Scranton's Nittany Lion Shrine was dedicated on September 10, 2002.
