One year ago, former PSU defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky was arrested on charges of child abuse. On Monday, students at Penn State Worthington Scranton hosted an event aimed at bringing more awareness to the problem of child sexual abuse and teaching the campus community more about this problem and how to combat it.

Mary Ann LaPorta, executive director of the Children's Advocacy Center in Scranton, was guest speaker, along with Jennifer Aglialoro, trauma counseling coordinator, who spoke to over 50 students, staff and faculty on Monday, Nov. 5 -- the one-year mark of Sandusky's arrest.

Those in attendance learned how organizations like the CAC help victims of child sexual abuse and their families, and also learned how to watch for signs and what to do if they suspect someone they know are being abused.

The event was organized by the campus' Student Government Association and other student volunteers, and aimed to make PSWS students more aware of these issues, while also showing that the PSWS campus community is ONE University standing against child abuse.
