Important Info to Remember from FTCAP

  1. College is very different from high school.  College is about taking personal responsibility for your action or inaction, both in and out of the classroom. Help is always available through the Learning Center (LC) and Writing Center (WC) in the Hawk Success Center, Room 11 of the Study Learning Center.
  2. You need to pay your semester bill prior to the start of classes in order to lock in the courses you've scheduled.
  3. Your First Year Engagement opportunities are very important to your first semester; take advantage of them.
  4. Orientation is mandatory. Attend the sessions to give yourself the best possible start to your collegiate career.
  5. If you don't already have one, develop a strong and honest line of communication with your family as well as your instructors and advisor.
  6. Pay attention to deadlines, and go to ALL your classes, EVERY day.
  7. If you have academic questions, go to your advisor or the DUS office for answers; don't consult your friends. Always consult your advisor or the DUS Staff; self-advising is very dangerous.
  8. You need to check your PSU email every day once the semester begins and periodically before and between semesters for important notices prior to the start of classes.
  9. Some of your course times and locations may change by the beginning of the semester. You will need to access your Student Schedule in eLion right before classes begin.
  10. College is your FULL TIME job for at least the next four years.
